2013 Eagle Contest

 

                        Community Involvement

Taxation, Government, & Citzenship Annual Test

“THE PHILOSOPHY  OF  THE  SCHOOLROOM  IN  ONE  GENERATION  WILL BE  THE  PHILOSOPHY  OF  GOVERNMENT  IN THE  NEXT”

ABRAHAM  LINCOLN

The Taxpayers Association of Vigo County, Inc. held its 5th annual competitive contest for Vigo County high school students. A 225-question test and an essay on local and state taxation, government and citizenship was given on Saturday, April 10, 2013, at 6:00 P.M. at the Vigo County School Corporation building.  All high school students living in Vigo County were eligible to compete. The students with the highest scores received cash awards for first, second and third place, respectively. The winning school received at least $200 to be spent on classroom materials selected by the teacher/coach. The winning school also gained possession of the traveling EAGLE trophy. 

Terre Haute North Vigo won the EAGLE for 2013.   

 Individual winners were:

  • 1st Alexander Farmer (THN)
  •  $300 prize
  • 2nd  Tim Smith (THN)
  • $200 prize
  • 3rd  Calvin Blank (THN) 
  • $100 prize
